The Authority of This Time
The Authority of This Time refers to a statement by photographer Gus Powell talking about how this time of the pandemic commands it’s own era of sorts. These images, all made during the month of March, 2020 try to capture the unease and uncertainty, new forms of communication, change in routines, and the more carefully defined experience of inside vs. outside. The mix of color and black and white works to both highlight the seriousness of this time but also to describe a time of play, creativity and a rethinking on how we do daily things.
