Bio

Mark James is an editorial and portrait photographer based near Laguna Beach, CA. He has travelled worldwide, crafting evocative images for a wide range of assignments. 

As a creative director, Mark runs the design office, Envision (envision.us), and teaches undergraduate courses at Laguna College of Art and Design (LCAD) in visual communication, brand design, and advanced typography. He has also been a consulting creative director at Santa Fe Workshops.

The Work

Classical design training informs his vision, and how he captures ephemeral bits of color, form, and gesture. The immediacy of the photographic moment calls together all of his visual storytelling skills, and design instincts, to produce engaging, well-crafted images.
